TIME FOR A LITTLE FUN. It’s Spring Break here in the Mundane Magic household. That means that I’ve had the kids hanging out with me more…and that they’ve been asking more questions. When kids ask questions it often leads to discussions about things they have no frame of reference for in their short lives. The mere fact that compact disc technology is over 25 years old means that most of our kids don’t instantly think of a small single record when you say the numbers “45″.

It reminded me of the discussion that was spurred among my friends when I posted this description of 5 Things Old School Style from my middle school memories. So many things that my kids will not be doing the same as “my generation”. It’s fun to see what comes to your mind. Can you take a moment and add to the list?

What “Old School” things have you had to explain to your kids? What do you remember as cool or ‘back in the day’?
Leave me a comment and I’ll add it to our list here on the post, giving you credit.

OLD SCHOOL FUN:

  1. Klackers and the brain injuries caused by them
  2. The video game “Asteroids”
  3. Pant stretchers – we had to have this one explained to us by our mothers one night
  4. Riding in the car on a family vacation…with no dvd player and hardly any radio stations
  5. NBC, CBS, ABC, PBS  — that’s it! Lawrence Welk and Hee Haw ere the highlights of the week! (Kathy)
  6. Willie Nelson had a few hits before the song “Beer for our horses” with Toby Keith. Yeah, just a few… (Beverly)
  7. Dinner without the help of a microwave. (Vicki)
  8. Cartoons only on Saturday morning…try to make your kids understand this one! (Vicki)
  9. No cell phones – and lots of pay phones. (Noticed that they have all but disappeared?) (Vicki)
  10. Join in the fun and add your old school memories to my comments! Keep ‘em coming…this is entertaining, then again I am over 40.
