Boy Fortune versus Girl Fortune
WHEN YOU FIRST BECOME PREGNANT, PEOPLE FEEL OBLIGATED TO TELL YOU ABOUT KID PERSONALITIES. And then they usually go on to tell you that boys and girls are completely different. If you are pregnant with your second child you usually roll your eyes and think, “I’ve done fine with child #1 so far!”
As my three kids grow, some of the old sayings become clearer each day. No matter how alike I raise them, they will all be different from each other. Sure, they have two crazy parents in common, but they are individuals. I miraculously lived past the toddler stage with my all three {especially my son who was good at running into danger at any moment} and I am happy to see them growing into their personalities each day. At times though, there comes a moment where you just shake your head and laugh. It’s the kind of thing that makes you smile all day.
This morning William was in Grace’s room trying to find some way to aggravate her in the morning. He looked down and saw a piece of paper at her doorway. It was a Chinese restaurant fortune. The kind you get in your fortune cookies. He then read it aloud:
“You will have something that you have always desired”
So Grace immediately says,
“William! That is my fortune! I’ve already desired to be an advanced ballerina!”
And then William says,
“I desire to have all the video games in the world!”
I groaned a motherly groan at this point.
“Of course,” I mumbled.
And then he expanded his greatest desire,
“…except for all the girl games!”
So there you have it. The difference between boys and girls!
{The awesome fortune cookies above are made by an industrial design artist named Xandy Peters. She allowed me to use this colorful image and she has a rockin’ Etsy shop which you should visit. I’m really wanting some of her beautiful products.}
